I can’t believe it’s already September. I started my Senior year yesterday and I was so tired which is why I didn’t post this yesterday.
August Wrap Up !
1.) East of Eden by: John Steinbeck
★★★★.5 4.5/5
So, I read this book because I had to for summer reading for my AP Literature class. I read this book during my annual summer reading slump (as I like to call it) so it took me about 3 weeks to read this book.
But it kind of got me out of my slump since I enjoyed it so much. I did get stressed out because there were so many characters and many background stories. But by the end, I was attached to every character even the horrible ones that annoyed me throughout the whole thing.
There were so many things talked about and I just loved it. I just had to put aside the idea that school was making me read this. I wasn’t surprised that it was so good because I read Of Mice and Men and absolutely loved it.
If you’re looking for a classic, I really recommend this book.
2.) Beloved (Toni Morrison Trilogy #1) by: Toni Morrison
★★★★ 4/5
I had to read this book for Summer Reading as well. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I enjoyed East of Eden but it was still really good. The characters were suspicious but amazing .
There were moments while reading this book that I will get confused because they kept mentioning something without actually saying what happened. But when I found out what happened, I was able to put all the pieces together and it made sense.
I’m not going to lie, there were some things in this book that kind of scared me. Because when I read, I’m very imaginative and I like to imagine what the characters are seeing which is both a blessing and a curse.
If you’re looking for an interesting classic, I recommend this one.
3.) Class Matters by: The New York Times, Bill Keller
★★★ 3/5
So I’m taking a Honor Sociology class and this was the book I had to read during the summer.
There was some articles that were kind of boring but nevertheless it was very informative and it got me thinking about my life and how the world works around me.
There’s not much to say.
4.) All the Pretty Horses (The Border Trilogy #1) by: Cormac McCarthy
★★ 2/5
I read this book because I had to for summer reading. I didn’t enjoy this one at all, it took me a long while to finish this one. And when I read it, I would just read it but I wouldn’t understand anything.

This month I’m going to try and read books that I enjoy since last month I just read books for school.
1.) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter #3) by: J.K. Rowling, Mary GrandPre
I want to continue with this series because I haven’t read this series in a while. I just need some Harry Potter in my life right now.
2.) Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) by: Richelle Mead
I’ve been wanting to read this book series for a while. I’m really excited to read this book.
3.) Isla and the Happily Ever After by: Stephanie Perkins
I’ve been dying to read this book since I finished Lola and the Boy Next Door but whenever I want to read this book, I fall into a reading slump.
